A city-dwelling mouse writes a letter to his cousin in the countryside, inviting him to come live in the city for a while. Upon receiving the letter, the cousin cheerfully hums a tune as he makes his way to the city. Accustomed to the carefree life of the countryside, the cousin soon realizes that city life comes with many more rules. First, he mustn’t speak too loudly in his cousin’s home, and then there’s that strange trap by the door with food inside that he mustn’t touch casually. Fortunately, his cousin is warm-hearted enough to take him up onto the dining table. There, he discovers exquisite foods he has never even heard of, and it feels like heaven to him. He eats to his heart’s content and even drinks himself into a tipsy, stumbling state. After the feast, it’s time to rest, but the two brothers discover an old cat guarding the entrance to their hole. Fueled by alcohol, the naive little cousin decides to challenge his natural enemy…
