This film was ranked 77th in the "Century of Animation • 100 Works" selection at the 2006 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in France and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1987. A middle-aged couple is playing a word game. The wife, tired of waiting for her husband who is agonizing over the cards in his hand, gets up to do household chores. The husband turns on the television to watch a program and, imitating what he sees, finds a small saw to cut the furniture, but soon falls fast asleep. Having missed the emergency broadcast about the outbreak of nuclear war, he wakes up bewildered by the noisy and crowded scene outside the window. The husband peeks at his wife's cards and is caught by her. When she confronts him, he stubbornly denies it, leading to a heated argument. The husband picks up a cherished photo of him and his wife from happier times, feels a pang of guilt, and goes over to comfort her. The reconciled couple opens the door to see what all the commotion outside is about, only to be met with an unexpected sight.
