Mrs. Montague and Mr. Capulet are a pair of old neighbors who despise each other, one painting their house entirely blue, the other red. In their respective gardens live two families of gnome spirits, who, like their owners, are sworn enemies separated only by a fence. During the day, they are ceramic ornaments, but when no one is around, they engage in fierce battles to the death. One night, Juliet (voiced by Emily Blunt), the daughter of the red family's leader, sneaks out to search for a magical exotic orchid, only to unexpectedly encounter Gnomeo (voiced by James McAvoy), a warrior from the blue family. A struggle for the orchid inexplicably turns into a spark of electric romance under the orchid's influence. From then on, the two begin a secret, passionate affair, and their love for each other leads them to question the long-standing feud between their families. However, as the war between the red and blue families intensifies, faced with the tall fence and endless conflict, can the love of these two little figures escape the fate already written by Shakespeare? This film draws creative inspiration from Shakespeare's famous play, "Romeo and Juliet."
