In a distant kingdom, there lived a boy who loved to dream. One day, he caught a fish from a pond and imagined it as a mermaid, weaving a beautiful fairy tale for himself. Later, the boy brought the "mermaid" home, placed it in a fish tank, and showed it to his parents. They were filled with panic, for daydreaming was forbidden in that kingdom. Soon after, the boy faced days of police interrogation and medical treatment. Yet, the image of the mermaid still lingered in his mind, though gradually, his memories began to fade. After the treatment took effect, the boy was released and returned home. When he saw that what swam in the fish tank was truly just an ordinary fish, as others had said, he was heartbroken. Cradling the fish in his hands, he returned to the pond where he had first discovered the "mermaid."
