This short film premiered on June 5, 2000, at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and was shown as a pre-feature before "Monsters, Inc." on November 2, 2001. The film begins with a flock of small birds resting on a telephone wire. Suddenly, a much larger and seemingly clumsy bird flies over. The big bird greets the small birds in a friendly manner, but the small birds mock and ridicule its appearance, refusing to let it join them. They all shift away from where the big bird is perched. However, the big bird is eager to be with the small birds, so it flies over and lands among them. Since it is much heavier than the small birds, the wire sags significantly under its weight, as shown in the scene. The small birds become annoyed with it, and the two closest ones start pecking at the big bird's feet, trying to make it fall. In pain, the big bird's toes release the wire one by one. Suddenly, one of the small birds warns that if the big bird falls, the wire will snap back into place. But by then, it is too late for the two birds in the middle. As the big bird's last toe lets go, the small birds are flung upward by the wire's powerful rebound, leaving only scattered feathers drifting down. The final scene shows the big bird watching the featherless small birds scurrying into the field, chuckling to itself.
