Born with extraordinary abilities, they are a group of unique individuals, each carrying a mutant gene from birth that grants them powers beyond human imagination: Cyclops, whose eyes emit deadly beams capable of blasting holes through mountains; Jean Grey, skilled in telekinesis and telepathy; and Storm, who can control the weather, summoning wind and rain.
In a world dominated by humanity, filled with hatred and prejudice, they are mutants, outsiders, a group of monsters. Some fear them, despise them, refuse to accept them, and are determined to drive them out of human sight. Senator Robert Kelly is one such "defamer"—a career politician seeking to expose these "dangerous" mutants through legislation. In his view, mutants and their many kindred have survived only because society knows too little about them. Under the guidance of Professor Charles Xavier, the world's most renowned master of superhuman abilities, these gifted mutant students have finally learned to control their extraordinary powers for the benefit of humanity. Their goal is to fight to protect a world that fears them.
The "X-Men" soon find themselves embroiled in a bitter battle against Magneto, Professor Xavier's former colleague and friend from university and one of the world's most powerful mutants. He firmly believes that mutants and humans can never coexist peacefully, and that mutants alone should rule the future of this world. He and his malevolent followers vow not to rest until their goal is achieved. Just look at who they are: Sabretooth; Mystique, the shape-shifting enchantress; and the nearsighted Toad. Their sinister schemes threaten not only humanity's survival but also that of other mutants. To protect themselves and humankind, the X-Men have only one path—to fight to the end!
The X-Men animated series premiered in October 1992 on FOX in the United States and concluded in September 1997, spanning 5 seasons and 76 episodes.
