An ant dragging a heavy load believes itself to be the most hardworking creature in the world, but when a huge drop of sweat falls, it realizes that the birdman carrying the crystal jar is the one who truly suffers the most. His bloodshot eyes are filled with tears, yet the mantis nearby only mocks him, showing no pity. A little girl idly smokes a cigarette, then simply starts to dance. The stage changes endlessly, and the dance steps shift unpredictably. The bewitching two-headed, conjoined woman continues to paint her eyebrows, while the birdman finally eats some fruit to satisfy his hunger. The revolving lantern reflects their respective expressions—each face distinct, complex, and varied. The camera spins back, revealing that they are all characters from the book hidden within the little girl’s heart—whimsical, bizarre, and fantastical. When the little girl closes the door to her heart, she remains in that same languid state, blowing bubbles of gum that burst at a touch, peering into the future through a telescope.
