This animated short film, using sand painting as its expressive medium, adapts a segment from the famous Chinese folk legend—"Lady White Snake Sealed Forever Under Leifeng Pagoda." In just over five minutes, the ink-wash style visuals once again depict this timeless, extraordinary romance. During the Qingming Festival, by the West Lake's willow-lined banks adorned with blooming flowers, on the Broken Bridge, the White Snake, transformed into a woman, encounters the scholar Xu Xian. Yet their deep, loving bond proves all too brief, ultimately dissolving into a tragedy of weeping and lament. The White Snake turns into a ferocious beast, while Xu Xian becomes an enforcer of morality. This film offers a modern reinterpretation of the struggle and collapse of this poignant, beautiful love story.
