A little boy encounters a strange, out-of-town grandpa during summer vacation. The grandpa has come to the ancient town for cultural preservation work. The boy is deeply curious about him and follows him around as they play. Gradually, he begins to understand the significance of the worn-out stones scattered throughout his hometown—stones he had seen everywhere while growing up. After the grandpa finishes his work, he leaves the boy a painting and quietly departs.
