In 1992, the CCTV Animation Department obtained authorization from the original author Zhu Zhixiang to produce a sequel animated series, directed by Fan Hui. The series consists of 12 episodes, each ranging from 6 to 8 minutes in length. It was completed in November 1993 and premiered on December 25, 1993, during the "Red, Yellow, Blue" program on CCTV, concluding its broadcast on January 29, 1994.
Due to a copyright lawsuit initiated in 1987 by the original author Zhu Zhixiang against the Shanghai Animation Film Studio and Dai Tielang over the rights to "Black Cat Sheriff," this work did not obtain authorization from the animation studio or Dai Tielang for the character designs and certain animated characters (such as "One Ear"). As a result, the character design style of this work differs significantly from the previous one. The appearance of Black Cat Sheriff in the second series is different from that in the first. In the second series, the sheriff's face is entirely black, and he wears a red police uniform. His subordinates also changed from the white uniforms of the first series to yellow uniforms.
