The kind and beautiful little girl Doria lives on a farm with her parents, but she is lonely and has no friends—only her dog Toto keeps her company day and night.
One day, a tornado sweeps the house, Doria, and Toto away to the distant and unfamiliar land of Magic Country. The wicked witch Bashi rules Magic Country with her magic and does everything she can to stop Doria from returning home. The people of Magic Country advise Doria to seek out the King of Oz, for he can help her fulfill her wish to go home.
On her way to the Emerald City to find the King of Oz, she meets a talking scarecrow named Bururu who has no brain, a dancing tin man named Kanuka who has no heart, and a singing little lion named Pakku who lacks courage. Scarecrow Bururu wants to ask the King of Oz for a brain, Tin Man Kanuka wants a heart, and the timid lion wants bravery, so they decide to travel together. Along the journey, they overcome the obstacles set by the witch Bashimu and, after countless hardships, finally reach the Emerald City and meet the King of Oz.
The King of Oz tells them that only by defeating the resurrected Bashimu can he help them realize their wishes. In the battle against the witch, Kanuka refuses to abandon his friends, Bururu devises a plan to defeat Bashimu, and Pakku hurls a magic sphere at Bashimu. The magic is finally completely broken: Bururu gains a brain, Kanuka receives a heart that knows love, and little lion Pakku gains courage and bravery. The King of Oz helps Doria and her good friends return to their hometown.
