The year 1943 was a critical moment in the War of Resistance Against Japan, with fierce battles raging across North and East China. The story centers on Baiyangdian, where the passionate young boy Zhang Ga, filled with hatred and longing for a life of combat, sets out to find the guerrilla forces. He eventually encounters Luo Jinbao by chance and fulfills his dream of joining the Yanling Team as a scout.
After recovering from his injuries, Ga sneaks away to search for his unit. In Dongshan Village, he coincidentally runs into Sakuraki, who is leading a large contingent of troops to capture hostages in order to ensure the safe transport of munitions. After Fat Dun’s father protects Ga, he too is taken away by the Japanese army. Driven by a strong sense of duty, Ga follows the departing Japanese troops, determined to keep his promise to Fat Dun. Meanwhile, the crucial Japanese munitions shipment has arrived, and Sakuraki, responsible for the area’s defense, remains vigilant.
Ga discovers that the Japanese army has taken the villagers of Dongshan Village, along with Lao Zhong, onto a train as hostages. Determined to rescue them, Ga seizes the chaos to board the train.
Meanwhile, the Yanling Team, which had been planning to blow up the train, planted explosives on a bridge along the route. When they learn that hostages are on board, they are thrown into confusion...
