Though it was a sunny day, the old man still brought an umbrella when he went out. Halfway through his journey, heavy rain began to fall, and the umbrella proved useful.
Seeing a woman holding a young child struggling through the rain, the old man quickly walked over to her and held the umbrella over her head. Then, noticing a child using his schoolbag as an umbrella while darting through the rain, he called the child over to join them under the umbrella. A loafer with a cigarette in his mouth, who had been taking shelter from the rain, saw the three of them standing comfortably under the umbrella and, without a word, snatched it away. Soon after, people of all kinds rushed over to seek shelter under the umbrella, pushing and shoving until the old man, the woman, and the child were squeezed out. The wind grew fierce, and the rain poured down, causing the umbrella to flip inside out. Seeing this, everyone abandoned it and scattered to find new places to take cover. The old man picked up the umbrella, put in considerable effort to fix it, and once again, people swarmed around him like flies.
