On an ancient big tree, live three neighbors. The magpie resides on the upper level, the little squirrel in the middle, and the old rabbit at the bottom. All three neighbors are selfish and self-centered. The black smoke from the old rabbit’s stove blackens the squirrel’s bed blanket, and the magpie’s feathers are stained with soot. The magpie sweeps garbage downward, which lands in the squirrel’s home, and the squirrel then throws the garbage into the rabbit’s house. Because of this, they are always quarreling endlessly.
The little squirrel discovers that the big tree has been infested with woodworms, so he quietly drives the worms toward the rabbit’s home. The woodworms multiply on the rabbit’s ceiling, which also serves as the squirrel’s floor. The woodworms grow in number and spread to the old rabbit’s house. The big tree becomes hollowed out, and all three neighbors grow anxious, yet none of them is willing to call for the woodpecker.
A strong wind blows, and the big tree collapses. The three neighbors are still arguing!
