Once upon a time, there was an elderly couple who both wished for a better life, but they had different ideas on how to achieve it. The old man worked hard in the fields every day, while the old woman burned incense daily, praying to the God of Wealth. When the old man showed his wife the fruits of his labor, she insisted it was the result of her devout prayers. The old woman spent all the money the old man had earned on offerings to the God of Wealth, causing their lives to become increasingly difficult. The old man grew angry, but the old woman paid no heed. In a moment of inspiration, the old man came up with a clever plan. While his wife wasn't looking, he smashed the incense burner and then fabricated a story that he had only one year left to live. Believing him, the old woman, in her sorrow, began to follow the old man's instructions, doing what "the God of Wealth wanted her to do."
