Badgered

In the depths of winter, a bitter wind howls mournfully across a desolate landscape. 　　A badger, hibernating peacefully, is rudely awakened by the raucous cawing of a crow. It crawls out of its burrow and shouts angrily at the disturbance. Though a brief silence follows, the moment it returns to its den, the crow starts up again, even louder than before. Then the commotion escalates: a military truck arrives, rips open the hill where the badger lives, and installs three nuclear warheads inside the cave—one of which pierces right through the badger’s cozy nest. 　　Driven to distraction, the badger stumbles into the cave and accidentally triggers the launch switch on one of the warheads. Instantly, alarms blare, and all three missiles shoot roaring into the sky… 　　This film was nominated for the 2006 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
