Creature Comforts

This appears to be an unremarkable interview at first glance. A film crew visits a zoo to interview the animals, asking them about their experiences living there. The polar bear family demands better care facilities to ensure the animals' survival and to prevent potential human conflicts. The cougar fondly reminisces about the wonderful years in Brazil, having grown tired of the cold and vegetables. The younger hippo complains that the cage is too small and the environment is harsh. The lemur, tortoise, and armadillo, however, seem content with their current situation. With different perspectives and origins, the animals hold varying opinions... It is said that this film was created by the crew interviewing ordinary people on the streets of Britain who appeared to be immigrants, then transplanting their interview audio into an animated short. The film won the 1999 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
