The Hole

The second Oscar-winning animated film by the Hubley couple. 　　 The story begins with a verbal sparring match between two construction workers, one black and one white. The optimistic, wisecracking black man and the rational, news-conscious white man start arguing over an unexpected headline in a newspaper. Their quarrel escalates from construction site accidents to the accidental pressing of the nuclear button. Just as they are about to get back to work, an accident finally occurs—a sound like an explosion seems to serve as a warning to all.
