Two stone friends have witnessed millennia of changes. For humans, the surroundings may seem unchanged over many years, but from the perspective of the stones, some transformations occur astonishingly fast—shifts in terrain, the growth and decay of plants. Of course, from their viewpoint, such changes are trivial. Since the Stone Age, they have grown accustomed to this rhythm, often bored, occasionally fretting over the moss growing on them. Then one day, a discarded wheel makes them realize the passage of time. Human civilization begins to flourish, farmlands shrink, skyscrapers rise, and rapidly changing billboards appear before their eyes, while overpasses stretch overhead. The swift transformation of the world leaves them somewhat unprepared...
This film was nominated for the 2003 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film.
