The short film adopts the subjective perspective of a fly, rendered in a sepia-toned sketch-like style, depicting the story of a fly that once freely fluttered in the forest but mistakenly enters human society and ends up as a cold specimen. Throughout the film, only the harsh buzzing of the fly accompanies the shaky camera, guiding us through the dappled light and shadows of the forest until the fly is lured by the reflection from a house's window. In the unfamiliar human world, the fly's movements become increasingly unsteady. Yet, even more unfortunate, its presence is noticed by the homeowner. The fly struggles to evade capture, darting frantically, but ultimately cannot escape its fate of being turned into a cold specimen.
This film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film at the 53rd Oscars (1981).
