This film won the Silver Bear for Best Short Film at the 1987 Berlin International Film Festival and second place in the OIAF category at the 1986 Ottawa International Animation Festival. It was the first animated short produced by Pixar after Ed Catmull and John Lasseter left Industrial Light & Magic. The lamp featured in the film later became Pixar’s iconic logo.
