The manga version began serialization in the magazine "Monthly Asuka" in 1992. There have been irregular hiatuses and resumptions of the series, and as of 2010, it is currently on hiatus. A radio drama based on the manga's character stories was also produced and broadcast within the radio program "Mid☆Night Asuka Channel" (TBS Radio Fantasy World slot). In 1996, a theatrical film version was released. The theme song was X JAPAN's "Forever Love." Subsequently, a TV anime version aired on WOWOW (non-scrambled broadcast) from October 2001. The manga version, theatrical film version, and TV anime version each have slightly different settings and developments. There are many grotesque depictions, such as the collapse of Tokyo's skyscrapers and characters being torn apart and dying.
