Punk rock band FLESHTONES performs the song "Soul City" as tiny black and white cut-out figures (with hand-tinted flesh tones) against a flickering backdrop of brilliant colors. In the film, Jones 'recycled' the same fundamental movements of his subjects by constructing entirely new motions from the same extremely limited footage. This was achieved through altering perspectives and reversing selected movements at varying intervals. The number of movements a subject can make, artificially generated from a few basics, becomes nearly limitless once an understanding of what initially motivates that subject's activity is attained.
