A work in the remake series of the classic anime "Space Battleship Yamato," this is the first chapter of a seven-chapter (26-episode total) reimagining of the 1980 theatrical anime "Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato," infused with a new interpretation. The year is 2207, two years after the incident that led to the disappearance of the planets Gamilas and Iscandar. A mysterious colossal object, the Grand Reverse, suddenly appears in the solar system. Despite the desperate efforts of the Earth Defense Force, the Grand Reverse breaches multiple layers of Earth's defensive networks and descends upon the planet's new capital. The capital is swiftly and silently overrun by descent troops who appear without a sound. Amidst this chaos, a top-secret order is issued to the former Yamato fleet crew: "Assemble at Yamato." Setting sail into uncharted space-time, they embark on a voyage carrying the fate of humanity, but... Novelist Harutoshi Fukui, who has previously handled scripts and series composition for this remake series, serves as the General Director, Series Composition Writer, and Scriptwriter for this work.
