Production was announced on March 25, 2008. Unlike the previous installments which adopted the perspective of the Zeon forces, this work depicts ground warfare from the viewpoint of the Earth Federation Forces. Similar to the previous work, while adhering to the established setting research and worldview, this new installment portrays ground combat from the "Earth Federation Forces" perspective. The most significant narrative difference from "Igloo 1" is the absence of a specific protagonist across all three episodes. The Earth Federation soldiers who serve as the main characters in each episode, while being watched by the Grim Reaper, all ultimately face unexpected and merciless realities in the final scenes, meeting tragic deaths with their hopes shattered. Consequently, unlike in "1," there is no catharsis of rebellious spirit from underdogs fighting valiantly to the end; instead, the ruthlessness of the battlefield is emphasized more strongly [2]. It should be noted that the only characters appearing throughout all episodes are the Grim Reaper and Major Michele Collematta. Although the focus is on the Federation Forces, as with the previous work, no mobile suits bearing the name "Gundam" appear. Furthermore, collaboration was planned with Sunrise and Bandai's Hobby Division's 1/35 scale military model series, "U.C. HARD GRAPH."
