High school student Kimihiro Watanuki possesses an unusual constitution—he can see and attract all kinds of spirits and monsters. His friend, Himawari Kunogi, also has special abilities, with the power to exorcise demons. Guided by fate, Watanuki begins working part-time at Yūko Ichihara's shop. This is a store that can grant any wish, but the client must pay an equivalent price. Not long after, Watanuki meets a young spiritualist girl, Kohane Tsuyuri. One night, Himawari's grandfather, Mr. Haruka, enters Watanuki's dream and asks him to help find five items. Thus, Watanuki goes to Himawari's house and, together with Himawari, searches for the "bookworm" in the warehouse. During their search, they encounter various strange occurrences. Is all of this reality, or is it a dream... Watanuki used to always be alone, but he realizes that after experiencing all of this, not only has he changed, but the people around him have changed as well.
