An "intelligent cosmic life form spirit" that arrived on Earth, in order to evade pursuit by its own kind, fused with an "inorganic object"—an M4A1—in a nearby arms dealer's warehouse. Through various twists and turns, the "M4A1" ended up in the hands of a military otaku boy in a certain city. The boy took the "M4A1" home, spoke to her, cared for her, and gently polished her, causing the cosmic life form to become active once more. In response to the boy's emotions, the gun (the cosmic life form) autonomously transformed into a beautiful girl. The boy named the gun in human form "Kairi." However, upon learning of Kairi's existence, several major nations began competing to capture her. The boy died protecting Kairi. Humanity then began researching the "Gun Girl" Kairi. Barrett, Sasha, and others were products of this advancing research. Through the study of Kairi, human technology made significant progress, entering the space age.
