"DL2" reflects the profound impact of the Bauhaus movement, introduced to Chicago by László Moholy-Nagy in the late 1930s to early 1940s. This work utilizes extensive 10-foot-long unexposed black-and-white film strips, repeatedly immersed in cold water, fixer, hot water, and developer. Director Janiak assembles the processed film strips into what he calls "interesting sequences," selectively coloring them with various color gels, meticulously marking different color segments, and then repeatedly editing them together at varying playback speeds.
