In July 2010, Tommy Yune revealed that Harmony Gold was producing a new *Robotech* animated film, with the late *Robotech* producer Carl Macek having been involved in the project's planning. In July 2011, a trailer for this animated film was unveiled at the Los Angeles Anime Expo. In October, during the premiere of a documentary commemorating Carl Macek, Harmony Gold officially announced the title of the new work: "Robotech: Love Live Alive." The film would incorporate footage from the *Genesis Climber MOSPEADA* OVA "Love Live Alive," mixed with newly produced animation. It was reported that the story takes place during *The New Generation* and would have connections to *The Shadow Chronicles*. In April 2013, Harmony Gold announced that Lions Gate Entertainment would distribute the film on DVD, with a release date set for July 23, 2013.
