Robotech: The Movie, a 1986 theatrical film produced by Harmony Gold and Cannon Films, was withdrawn from release due to unforeseen circumstances. Adapted from the Japanese anime *Megazone 23 Part One*, it incorporates select footage from *Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross*. Set in the year 2027, the film depicts an episode in which the Southern Cross Army battles the Robotech Masters, who arrived earlier, for control of the SDF-1's main computer. None of the characters featured in this movie appear in the main *Robotech* series.
