Star Trek: The Animated Series (1973–1974), produced by Filmation, aired two seasons comprising a total of 22 half-hour episodes. However, certain elements from the animated series have been incorporated into Star Trek canon. For instance, Captain Kirk’s middle name "Tiberius" first appeared in the animated series and was later officially established as part of the canon in the film *Star Trek: The Motion Picture*. Additionally, concepts from the animated series were integrated into canon in the later television series *Star Trek: Enterprise*.
