Director's Statement: "Crown Shyness" is my undergraduate graduation project, marking the first time I independently produced a stop-motion animation at home. From scriptwriting and storyboarding to shooting and post-production, the entire process took nearly a year. While there are many technical shortcomings, the experience gained from this production is invaluable, and I hope to improve further next time! The inspiration for the story primarily stems from reflections on my own growth. It tells the tale of a pair of twins who make their respective choices at a fork in the forest. Elements such as the woods they traverse, the sensation of being watched by others, and their personal true preferences are all subjectively woven into this short film. While the short appears to have been crafted by my hands, it is perhaps more accurate to say that I am the one who was healed and relied upon in the process.
