"Cycles" combines 16mm film with imagery from Stephen Beck's Direct Video Synthesizer through a proprietary process Beck called "editation." Beck also composed the film's soundtrack, which consists of a single sequence repeated 12 times, with both artists introducing variations on each repetition.
