Generation after generation, life multiplies without cease, the same tragedies and comedies playing out in endless cycles. A brutish and domineering father (played by Robert Chadwick) and a fallen, sorrowful mother (played by Virginia Maitland), though bearing human form, live as wantonly as animals, let alone offering their children the riches of compassion. The pale-faced son (played by Richard White), with no one to rely on, finds his final refuge in the attic under the tyrannical rule of his violent father. Yet even there, merciless violence can burst through the door at any moment, sweeping in like a storm. As if guided by fate, through the endless darkness of the night, the boy discovers a mysterious seed. He fetches soil and tenderly nurtures the strange plant that breaks through the earth. Until one day, the fruit ripens, and a kind, affectionate grandmother (played by Dorothy McGinnis) brings the boy the long-awaited care he yearned for. But does this truly herald the arrival of happiness?
