Xiao Ming feels neglected due to his mother's long-term participation in China's medical aid work in Laos. His father takes him to Laos, where he befriends a local boy named Aluo along the way. By witnessing firsthand his mother's dedication to healing and saving lives, and listening to Aluo's story of losing his own mother, Xiao Ming gradually comes to understand his mother's profound love. In the end, he brings his Laotian friend back to China to see the sea.
