In 1940, the gunfire of Japanese invasion shattered the peaceful school life of Mai Bao and his friends. As villagers were captured, teachers tortured, and Eighth Route Army soldiers severely wounded in the crisis, Mai Bao and his companions seemed to mature overnight. Utilizing the interconnected tunnels linking every village and household, the elusive Mai Bao and his group not only managed to survive but also left the Japanese soldiers in disarray. To rescue the villagers, Mai Bao unfortunately found himself trapped in a prison cell, repeatedly brushing shoulders with death. Through wit and courage in confronting the enemy, he not only successfully escaped but also dug tunnels to save the villagers. Enraged, the Japanese soldiers engaged in intense tunnel warfare with the villagers. Faced with the intricate, winding network of combat tunnels, the Japanese troops suffered repeated defeats. Finally, at the critical moment of the battle, Mai Bao risked his life to ignite the fuse, blowing up the ammunition depot and annihilating the Japanese soldiers in one fell swoop.
