At Tweedy's Farm in England, a flock of chickens is raised, and Mrs. Tweedy plans to cook the non-productive ones for dinner. The chicken leader, Ginger, along with her fellow hens, is determined to change their fate of eventually being boiled. Just then, an American flying rooster named Rocky appears, and Mrs. Tweedy is preparing to launch a new product: crispy fried chicken. The chickens must learn to fly in order to escape the farm, and they begin pooling their unique talents to devise a flawless escape plan.
