The mortal Yang Tianyou fell in love with the Third Princess of the Heavenly Realm and gave birth to Erlang Shen. Upon hearing this, the Jade Emperor was enraged and dispatched heavenly soldiers to capture them. The Third Princess was imprisoned beneath the Peach Mountain, while Yang Tianyou perished in battle. To rescue his mother, Erlang Shen sought out the Mountain-Splitting Axe and cleaved the mountain to free her. In the end, the Jade Emperor bestowed upon him the title of Erlang Xiansheng Zhenjun.
