Wreck-It Ralph (voiced by John C. Reilly) lives in a low-resolution game from the 1980s. His designated role is that of a villain, and his daily routine consists of wreaking havoc in the game "Fix-It Felix Jr.," after which the player-controlled hero, Fix-It Felix Jr. (voiced by Jack McBrayer), arrives just in time to repair the damage, win medals, and claim all the glory. As the villain, Ralph grows tired of his life. Watching Felix bask in the halo of victory while he himself lives day after day in monotony, he finally decides to make a change. Naively believing that if he could just earn a medal himself, he could shed his villainous identity, Ralph sneaks out of his own game after the arcade closes one day and ventures into the worlds of other video games. Along the way, Ralph befriends the stern Sergeant Calhoun (voiced by Jane Lynch) from "Hero's Duty" and a young girl named Vanellope von Schweetz (voiced by Sarah Silverman) from the 1990s candy-themed racing game "Sugar Rush." Vanellope dreams of competing in races, but her status prevents her from realizing that dream. Meanwhile, Ralph's own game, "Fix-It Felix Jr.," is flagged as having a system error due to his absence and faces permanent deletion if he doesn't return soon. At the same time, a massive conspiracy threatening the entire game world is quietly brewing within "Sugar Rush." This might be Wreck-It Ralph's chance to fulfill his dream, but it could also be a path of no return... Can he turn the tide and become a true hero?
