Elephants Dream is a computer-animated film created almost entirely using open-source software, with the exception of Reaktor for audio and Mac OS X for final rendering. On March 24, 2006, after eight months of dedicated effort, the project—codenamed Orange—was completed by seven artists from around the world. It was initially named Machina before being changed to Elephants Dream, based on a Danish children's story.
