Little dinosaur Jinbao witnesses his father, King Jinba, die at the hands of the villain Fang. After vowing to "defeat Fang in three years," he embarks on a journey to become stronger. Along the way, he gains friendship and builds a reputation. Ultimately, the king returns, defeats the villain, and reclaims his throne.
