Based on the Huoyun Cave chapter, the film adapts the story of the mischievous yet pure-hearted Red Boy, who, in an attempt to prepare a reunion meal for his parents, is deceived by the Black Cloud Immortal into capturing Tang Monk. During the conflict between Sun Wukong and Red Boy, the Black Cloud Immortal seizes the opportunity to reap the rewards, awakening the ancient beast Taotie. Manipulating Taotie, the Black Cloud Immortal attacks the Heavenly Court and assaults the Spirit Mountain, throwing the three realms into chaos. Ultimately, Sun Wukong resolves the calamity through self-sacrifice, simultaneously awakening the goodness within Red Boy's heart.
