In a battle against alien invaders, the Martial Sage Dayu sacrificed himself. With his dying breath, he instructed his disciple, the young giant beast Pulao, to find the next successor of the Golden Hoop. Confused and inexperienced, Pulao traveled far and wide but failed to find the "chosen one" of the Golden Hoop. Instead, the hoop was accidentally snatched away by a wild monkey. The two, through a series of mishaps, ended up at an academy that trains the chosen ones, where the monkey was named "Kong" by the founder. However, their good fortune didn't last long.
