A four-panel manga serialized in Square Enix's manga magazine YOUNG GANGAN, starting from Issue 1, 2005. Set in a restaurant called "Wagnaria" in Hokkaido, which regulars describe as having a "dangerous yet addictive vibe," this four-panel manga is filled with all sorts of eccentric characters and bizarre incidents. The banter between the characters is notably light and snappy. It is usually serialized in six-page units per installment, with two chapters sometimes published together. Occasionally, there are also short stories that are not in the four-panel format. The four-panel strips and later storylines are cleverly interconnected, with well-paced development. The first page of each chapter features a half-page section equivalent to a title page, which includes character monologues or dialogues when published in the magazine, though these are not included in the compiled manga volumes. Originally, the author irregularly serialized a webcomic titled "WORKING!!" on their personal website. For the magazine serialization, new settings and characters were added, resulting in this work. The setting is a different restaurant called "Wagnaria" from the webcomic, but they share a common worldview. Characters such as the manager's old acquaintances and Satou's bandmates exist as interconnected elements. Hereafter, the webcomic version will be referred to as the "Cat Group," and the magazine serialization as the "Dog Group." Some characters from the magazine serialization also make appearances on the website for promotional purposes, with certain magazine characters appearing more frequently on the site. However, due to rights issues, characters from the Cat Group do not appear in the Dog Group. An extra side story began distribution via mobile phones on June 30, 2006. A drama CD was released on January 25, 2007. A TV anime adaptation is scheduled to begin airing in April 2010.
