It is a misty morning, the surroundings are utterly silent. In a vegetable patch, on a radish leaf, lies an inconspicuous insect egg. Soon, a new life emerges from within. This is a cheerful fly, but its joy and sense of novelty do not last long, for the counter above its head clearly shows it has only one minute to live. One minute? So brief, how should it be spent? Just as it panics, a list once used by a deceased elder drifts into its grasp, clearly outlining all the things it should accomplish within that minute. For instance: filling its stomach, singing and dancing, pushing its limits, evading predators, falling in love and reproducing, saving lives and aiding the injured, making friends, and even achieving fame. In the following minute, this fly embarks on its short yet glorious life... German animation director Michael Reichert, with exaggerated lines and a humorous touch, depicts the various highlights of a fly's life in just one minute. Perhaps when we lament the mediocrity of life or feel overwhelmed by its pressures, we can gain some insight and solace. What can be done in one minute? Maybe it's just the time it takes for a computer to boot up, or perhaps merely the moment to post a tweet. If your life were only one minute long, what path would you take? But for a fly with only a minute to live, it signifies a hurried existence.
