"Dora the Explorer" is an American educational television animated series created by Chris Gifford, Valerie Walsh, and Eric Weiner. The main characters are the seven-year-old girl Dora and her monkey friend Boots. Each episode follows their adventures as they journey to a destination, overcoming various obstacles along the way. "Dora the Explorer" became a regularly scheduled program in 2000, airing on Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. It began airing on CBS in September 2006. By its sixth season, which ran from 2010 to 2012, the series had broadcast over 144 episodes, surpassing "Blue's Clues" to become the show with the most episodes aired on Nick Jr. "Dora the Explorer" received the 63rd Peabody Award in 2003 for "providing a wonderfully engaging learning experience for preschool children."
