Studying at Qixia Temple by Lian'ao Mountain; catching fish in the Glass River before Mayi Mountain; crafting tools and toys from bamboo; playing in the open space of Shahu Lane; composing poetry by the Ruilian Pond... These activities largely make up the daily life of the young Su Dongpo. The event that stirs up waves occurs when Su Dongpo explores a cave near the Mayi Temple and accidentally triggers the twin lotus flowers on the underground river within. The twin lotus flowers assign him many tasks. Su Dongpo could have pretended not to see anything and avoided these tasks, but evasion is simply not in his nature. He resolutely accepts these tasks, determined to become the chosen one who acts with integrity, punishes the strong and aids the weak, and resolves the people's troubles. The quiet little town becomes lively as the three brothers of the Jia family, each with distinct personalities, the highly skilled martial artist Chao Gu, and the students from the private school all join Su Dongpo in his mission to complete the tasks. They help deceived silkworm farmers seek justice; teach thieves who come to steal antiques a lesson; assist a disheartened hero in regaining his spirit... There are too many tasks for him to accomplish. As each task is completed, Su Dongpo gradually grows into a better person.
