A claymation adaptation of Perrault's fairy tale, narrated by a chorus. Bluebeard, having lost all six of his previous wives, goes seeking a new bride. He arrives at the home of a widow with two daughters. Though greatly feared, he overcomes their objections with the promise of a generous dowry. One sister, Anne, refuses him, while the other accepts. At his castle, the young bride finds precious moments of peace away from Bluebeard in the rose garden. When the Saracens declare war, Bluebeard departs to fight, leaving the castle keys in his wife's care, with a stern warning never to enter the forbidden room. As the war rages on, she explores the castle's riches and eventually succumbs to temptation, entering the forbidden chamber. Will Bluebeard discover her transgression? Can she escape a deadly fate?
