This short film employs a collage technique, blending real-life news photographs with animation drawn in simple, clean lines. It tells the story of how so-called modern civilization often prefers to ignore and isolate the helpless little people. A castaway, stranded on a deserted island, calls out for help to passersby. Ships and people come and go before him—some pretend not to see, others glance curiously before sailing away. Later, the military of a certain country brutally plants a flag, claiming the deserted island as its own territory. Then, the media swarms in, bombarding him with questions; scientists arrive one after another, using him as a test subject; tourists, on a whim, peddle all sorts of useless advertisements to him; resource developers spot a business opportunity and strip the island bare of its resources. No one notices that this helpless castaway simply wants to leave this deserted island and return home. The short film exposes the cruelty and indifference of capitalist society toward individuals.
