"The Beatles" is an animated television series named after the eponymous British rock band. This series is a historic milestone, being the first animated TV series based on real-life individuals. The series consists of several animated short films. Each short is accompanied by a complete Beatles song (ranging from "Love Me Do" to "Revolver," along with five singles). The appearances of the four main characters are based on the likenesses of the four Beatles members from the film "A Hard Day's Night." George Harrison, who was already fascinated with Indian culture at the time, sports a mop-top slightly longer than the others, with thick eyebrows, large eyes, and distinct facial features, and speaks with a Scottish/Irish accent. He lends a helping hand whenever his bandmates are in need. Ringo Starr serves as the comic relief, with a mop-top that almost covers his eyes, a signature large nose, and a slender frame. He is an innocent and compassionate member of the band. John Lennon is portrayed as the leader, with a slightly shorter mop-top, small eyes, a nose bridge connected to his right eyebrow, and a rounded chin. He is skilled in satire, possesses a humorous personality, and genuinely cares for the other members. Paul McCartney is presented as the band's deputy leader, a left-hander as in real life, and the most graceful member of the band, often getting excited about John's proposals. Brian Epstein is the Beatles' manager, a secondary character, and, as in real life, a heavy smoker who appears when the members are short on funds. Apart from the use of their records, the Beatles members were not involved in any aspect of the cartoon's production. It is worth noting that this series gave rise to the masterpiece "Yellow Submarine." Initially, the band members were not pleased with the idea of being presented in cartoon form to the public, which led to their reluctance to participate in the later production of "Yellow Submarine." It was only after seeing the stunning visuals of "Yellow Submarine" that they realized the film's ambitious aim to subvert Disney-style animation. Of course, that is another story altogether.
